While I could be completely redundant and post links to other sites that have done a beautiful job of presenting wine history and nerdy facts, I'd rather just present you with my favorite fact and let you get to drinkin'...:
The oldest winery in the Americas is Casa Madero in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, México, founded, on August 19th 1597.
For those of you yet to be indoctrinated to the glory of Mexican Wines, reach for a Tempranillo. It's way more full-bodied ("mmm-ier" for the non-native wine speakers) than its Spanish namesake.
